Welcome to our Mydesigns.io Review. Pull up a chair, because we’re going to explain:
Sounds good? Then let’s get straight into it…
MyDesigns.io is a user-friendly platform tailored for Print on Demand sellers, especially if you're just starting out. No more spending hours of your time doing a lot of simple things like title and tags, background removal or upscaling your designs and uploading them all on your preferred platform.
It serves as a one-stop-shop for Digital Asset Management, offering features like mockups, online storage, direct integration with ETSY or Woocommerce and even helps generate titles and descriptions. They also got video mockup capabilities for your products which is a high on demand function for most POD sellers.
With MyDesigns.io, managing and selling your custom designs becomes a breeze. You can do the designing to selling right inside one platform. They focus on making things easy for POD business owners through a range of apps and services.
Plus, they've introduced an API, which might sound technical but actually makes it simpler for you to make money from your digital assets.
This platform promises to be the only solution any POD business owners need, helping you navigate the world of e-commerce effortlessly.
You may have all seen the Youtube Gurus going crazy over Mydesigns.io and wondered why. You can see it in a positive or negative light.
On one hand, Mydesigns.io is a new tool that promises to ease out the struggle of a POD seller by automating a few steps and a new hyped tool means new hyped content for their youtube channel.
On the other hand, a 25% commission recurring rate with 5 year cookie duration might have to do something about it.
You have to ask, does it actually ease out the struggle ? (We’ll discover it in the upcoming sections)
The answer is yes and no.
Yes It does deliver to some extent, especially for beginners. Most newcomers get discouraged by the work needed for just one listing to take live. Mydesigns.io makes it effortless and simple, saving time and energy so the sellers can focus on creating digital assets rather than fiddling with bells and whistles of POD platforms.
No for new Print on Demand business owners who haven't established a workflow yet, it provides an excellent starting point.
But if you’re an experienced POD business owner or someone with a unique workflow in mind, this platform might stifle you. You must work within their system to use their software.
Check out the screenshots below about what the users are saying in the community about their workflow.
Some small caveats might make the whole process much more complicated. For example, you are most likely very familiar with your own operating system and how to save and arrange your digital assets to make the product listing process seamless.
But with Mydesigns.io and their new workflow, you have to keep one copy in your hardware and upload one in their platform. The listing process can only be done by their rules. One way to negate this is to create and edit your designs on the platform itself but now, you have to learn their editing softwares system as well.
Also most modern personal computers have a good amount of storage capability as they are quite cheap and we can always manage the space as we need, but with mydesigns.io, you’re stuck with the storage capacity that comes with their subscription.
Also the technical learning curve is steep and not suited for everyone. Definitely not suited for non-tech people. Checkout the screenshot from their community about this.
Lastly and maybe most importantly, as expected from a new tool which promises to do it all, it has a lot of bugs. A dedicated team of developers are working on it day and night but they might have bit a bit more they can chew.
The community is filled with random issues and bugs that no one seems to be able to fix. I added a screenshot below from the community but there were actually too many to add here.
If we count the promises of Mydesigns.io, they are many but if we take into consideration what they can actually do right now, here is a list of Pros that you can get right now.
In theory, Mydesigns.io has no cons and is a perfect product for POD business owners but we dig a bit deep in the community and tried using it ourselves and discovered a lot of issues.
The Bulk mockup capability doesn’t provide any auto naming option, folder creation and all the functionalities to make it useful. You can’t even upload your own PSDs at bulk.
Here’s a mydesigns.io user complaining about it in the community.
They have three tiers of monthly and yearly subscription with one being a free tier with limited capabilities.
The alternative for you depends on how you’re planning to use Mydesigns.io in your workflow.
If it’s only for the integration with ETSY or Shopify, you can just use free and more established options like Printful with a lot less bugs.
For mockups, Bulk Mockup provides a viable alternative that truly delivers on its promises. Some users on mydesigns.io have already requested developers to incorporate our core functionalities.
Does the UI look familiar?
This is due to it being the interface of our Bulkmockup plugin while utilizing its functionalities for creating bulk mockups.
Bulkmockup provides practical capabilities for creating mockups in bulk that are genuinely usable. You don’t have to hail marry your way into creating some hundreds of mockups and pray for it to work.
With BulkMockup you can just upload your PSDs and designs and with a few clicks you get thousands of mockups in minutes.
Before buying the subscription, ask yourself, why do you need it?
If you’re new in the POD game or selling digital assets in general, Mydesigns.io can be a decent starting point, as they not only show you a framework, they also have good customer service when you get stuck.
But if you only need it for some functions like generating title, tags and description, ChatGPT is much better. Midjourney can outperform their Dream AI any day of the week or you can just use Stable Diffusion on your own hardware rather than using it in their cloud service with limited credits.
If creating mockups is your main issue, BulkMockup is a much more established, reliable and cheaper solution that you can use.
