If you’re an online seller, you know how painful it is to churn out mockups for every single item. In this comparison, we’ll dive deep into Bulk Mockup vs Dynamic Mockups from a hands-on perspective.

Both Bulk Mockup and Dynamic Mockups exist to eliminate the frustration of manual mockup creation. I’ll break down how each solution works (I tested both so you don’t have to, and what actual sellers are saying about their results.

Why Sellers Need Bulk Mockup Generators?

Creating mockups one by one for dozens of products is a genuine business bottleneck. Doing this manually in Photoshop can devour hours.

As a seller put it, “Each new design means more hours wasted!” and those hours add up.

That’s where Bulk Mockup and Dynamic Mockups come in. These tools are all about speed at scale. They let you load up a design and instantly render it across multiple product photos or templates.

If you’ve ever sat there dragging a design onto a t-shirt mockup, saving, then doing the same for a hoodie, a mug, a tote bag – you know there has to be a better way.

Bulk generation tools promise exactly that. And it’s not just about saving time.

Better mockup efficiency means you can offer more product variations, update your images seasonally, all without burning out.

Bulk Mockup VS Dynamic Mockups: A Complete Overview

Before we get started, let’s clarify what each tool actually is:

Bulk Mockup (Photoshop plugin):

Bulk Mockup is a Photoshop plugin that automates the process of applying designs to Photoshop mockup templates.

You feed it a folder of design files (images of your artwork) and a folder of mockup template files (PSD files with smart object layers), and Bulk Mockup will batch generate new product images by swapping in each design on each template automatically.

We support virtually any product template that uses Photoshop smart objects (shirts, hoodies, mugs, wall art – you name it)

Bulk Mockup is a paid subscription plugin and requires Adobe Photoshop CC 2022 or newer to run.

It has built a proven track record – over 2,000+ sellers use it, and it boasts a 4.9/5 star rating from 140 reviews on Trustpilot

pricing: dynamic mockups vs bulk mockup

Dynamic Mockups (Cloud service & API):

Dynamic Mockups takes a different approach. It’s a cloud-based web application (with an optional API). Instead of a Photoshop plugin, it’s an online platform you log into.

It provides a library of 1,000+ ready-made product mockup templates and also lets you upload your own Photoshop mockup files to use on their system. The service then bulk-generates images by placing your designs into those templates on their servers.

They market themselves as the fastest way to create mockups for print-on-demand, claiming you can make “1,000+ of studio quality product images in seconds”.

Dynamic Mockups offers a freemium model – you can start for free (no credit card required) and upgrade to a Pro plan (~$10/month) for full capabilities. Everything runs in the browser or through their API.

Dynamic Mockups also emphasizes automation and integration – it has a public API for developers and is building direct integrations with e-commerce platforms.

How Do They Differ?

Their approach differs:

Bulk Mockup leverages Photoshop on your PC for maximum flexibility

whereas

Dynamic Mockups leverages the cloud for maximum convenience

One isn’t inherently “better” than the other. It really depends on your workflow preferences, budget, and technical comfort.

It’s also about the maturity and community around each. Bulk Mockup, being a bit older and Photoshop-based, feels like a more “pro” solution. It’s used by many top Etsy sellers (they proudly show it’s trusted by top Etsy shops) and has a reputation for excellent support.

In contrast, Bulk Mockup has already ironed out many kinks and proven its value – Literally the best value £15 I spend a month. It saves an unbelievable amount of my time! according to John Duncan.

John Duncan's review about Bulk Mockup

Now let’s compare Bulk Mockup and Dynamic Mockups head-to-head on the things that really matter.

Workflow & Ease of Use: Hands-On with Each Tool

One of the biggest differences between Bulk Mockup and Dynamic Mockups is how you actually use them day-to-day. I tested both to understand the workflow.

Bulk Mockup

Bulk Mockup runs as a panel inside Adobe Photoshop. You simply select your PSD template folder, your design image folder, and an output folder, then click “Start Generating” – the plugin automatically opens each template, swaps in each design, and saves the results for you.

The interface is straightforward (as shown)

Once I installed the plugin, I launched it from Photoshop’s Plugins menu. The Bulk Mockup panel prompted me to do three things: choose a folder of mockup templateschoose a folder of designs, and choose an export folder for the results. After that, it was one click (“Start Generating”) to begin the automation.

Bulk Mockup workflow

In my test, I set up 5 t-shirt PSD templates and 10 design files: Bulk Mockup proceeded to generate 50 images (each design applied to each shirt template) without any further input. It was crazy fast!!

A huge plus is that Bulk Mockup doesn’t just brute-force this; it has smart features like auto-resizing and positioning your designs to fit the template perfectly.

For example, I didn’t have to manually resize my 4500×5400 PX design to fit the t shirt template. Bulk Mockup took care of scaling it down to the smart object dimensions automatically.

The plugin neatly organizes the exported images into sub-folders (if you want) and can even apply custom naming conventions to the files.

See this step-by-step here

As for ease of use, I’d rate Bulk Mockup fairly high if you’re already somewhat familiar with Photoshop. You don’t need advanced Photoshop skills at all.

The team provides plenty of tutorials for beginners. The only “hard” part is that you must have or acquire Photoshop PSD templates to use.

Overall, the Bulk Mockup workflow almost feels like having a little production line inside Photoshop cranking out images. And importantly, it happened offline on my PC, which is awesome for speed and privacy.

Dynamic Mockups

Dynamic Mockups is a cloud-based app with a dashboard of mockup templates. From the web interface, you pick a product template, then upload your design. The platform can then bulk generate all variant images for you in one go.

Switching over to Dynamic Mockups, I signed up for a free account . The UI that greeted me was a modern dashboard. On the left, it had sections like “Mockup Library”, “My Mockups”, “Designs”, etc.

The main area showed categories of templates. Dynamic Mockups has a Template Library with categories for T-shirts, Hoodies, Sweatshirts, Mugs, Wall Art, and so on.

dynamic mockup portal

I clicked into T-Shirt Mockups, and the library offered a bunch of different shirt images . Once you select a template, the app moves to a customization screen. Here, I could upload my design image, and it would place it onto the shirt mockup.

For templates with multiple colors, Dynamic Mockups even lets me choose which shirt colors to generate. This is great for sellers offering multiple color variants.

dynamic mockup library

If needed, there’s an edit mode where you can adjust the positioning or size of your design on the product (they have a simple drag-and-drop editor for the print area). I found this handy to ensure my design wasn’t too close to the collar on the tee, for example.

Now, for bulk creation – the platform allows a few ways to do it.

On a template, I could add additional designs or color variations and essentially batch them as well.

I uploaded 3 different design files for the same shirt template, and then hit the “Create Mockups” button. The system queued up the task, and within about 8–10 seconds, I had 3 mockup images (one for each design) ready to download.

Dynamic Mockups also has a Bulk Uploader for designs and an Asset Manager (“Designs” library) where you can store your artwork.

dynamic mockup editor

If you wanted to, say, apply 10 designs onto 5 different templates, the workflow would be: upload the 10 designs into your account, choose a template, and the system can generate all combinations.

This is somewhat similar in outcome to Bulk Mockup’s approach, though I’d say Bulk Mockup handled the “many designs vs many templates” scenario a bit more gracefully via its folder batching.

My verdict?

Dynamic Mockups is excellent for non-technical users. Everything is drag-and-drop and forms in the browser. They had me name the smart object layer in the PSD as “Design” (they have a tutorial on preparing Photoshop files for upload).

👉 Bulk Mockup keeps you in Photoshop but automates the heck out of it, which is perfect if you’re already using PSD templates and want unlimited control

👉 Dynamic Mockups is great for those who don’t want to deal with Adobe software or who value convenience and integration over hands-on control.

Template Availability and Customization

What do Bulk Mockup and Dynamic Mockups offer in terms of mockup templates, and how much can you customize them?

Bulk Mockup

Bulk Mockup does not include a template library

It’s a generator that works with templates you provide. Bulk Mockup chooses to be compatible with essentially any PSD mockup template. As long as a PSD has a smart object layer for the design, Bulk Mockup can automate it.

This gives you ultimate flexibility

If you have Photoshop skills, you can even create your own custom mockup files

(Bulk Mockup has tutorials on how to set up your PSD layers for that).

To help users who may not have a stockpile of mockups already, Bulk Mockup’s site curates recommended premium mockup bundles from various designers.. They’re paid, but often reasonably priced (e.g. $9–$17 for a bundle).

Since it’s using Photoshop, you can edit templates to your heart’s content before running the batch. Bulk Mockup will respect all that since it literally works on the PSDs.

Dynamic Mockups

Dynamic Mockups comes with an integrated Public Template Library. At the time of writing, they advertise over 1,000+ ready-made mockup templates covering apparel and home decor products

dynamic mockup library template

Of course, with a public library, there’s a possibility of images looking similar across different sellers. Dynamic Mockups have introduced an AI Photoshoot feature for this, which sounds like the ability to generate unique backgrounds or scenarios with AI.

A strong point for Dynamic Mockups is you can upload your own Photoshop templates into your personal library.

In my test with a custom PSD, I uploaded a file ~80MB in size with multiple smart layers. It processed it and let me map my design to each smart object. It even supports templates with multiple smart object layers.

PSD layer setup

What About Design Placement And Fit?

Bulk Mockup can auto-align and resize designs so they fit into the smart object exactly as intended.

Dynamic Mockups gives you those Fit/Fill/Stretch options in their editor to ensure the design covers the print area properly.

Neither edits your design for you.

But here’s the key difference:

  1. Dynamic Mockups gives you polished, pre-made scenes. The background, lighting, and vibe are already set.
  2. Bulk Mockup keeps things simple. It just places your design onto the mockup. No fancy background. But because it runs inside Photoshop, you’ve got way more control.

Speed and Performance: Who Takes The Crown?

Bulk Mockup uses your computer’s power. If you see the tagline: “Create 1,000+ Mockups in 10 Minutes”. This isn’t an exaggeration.

The speed you get will depend on your hardware and the complexity of your templates, but Bulk Mockup is essentially a script automating Photoshop, which can be quite efficient.

One Trustpilot reviewer mentioned generating 400 mockups with multiple smart layers in a single go

artjag review of Bulk Mockup

Another user exclaimed it “turns a job that usually takes hours into minutes if not seconds.”

For me, 50 mockups took around a minute or two on a mid-range PC. I then tried a bigger test overnight: 500 designs on 3 templates (so 1500 images total) – Bulk Mockup churned through them while I watched a TV episode.

It slowed down a bit as Photoshop can get memory-heavy after hundreds of successive file opens. But overall, it’s light-years faster than manual work

👉 Start your trial no credits

Why do I prefer Bulk Mockup?

With Bulk Mockup, there’s no artificial limit since it’s running on Photoshop locally. The only “limit” is how much you can throw at it before Photoshop gets cranky.

Some users do thousands of images in one session without issues, others prefer to batch things into smaller runs if working with very large files. But there is no per-image cost which is UNBELIEVABLE!!

What About Dynamic Mockups?

Dynamic Mockups runs on cloud servers. They’ve stated “10 seconds for 100 mockup variations”

During my tests, each individual image generation was almost instantaneous. The hard bit was uploading designs and downloading the results.

For example, uploading a 5MB PNG might take a few seconds on my internet; the rendering on Dynamic’s side was maybe 0.5 to 1 second per image from what I observed.

Once ready, I could bulk-download a ZIP of all images.

Even when I queued 50 images, the system produced them practically all at once. Awesome parallel processing must say.

Then why don’t I prefer this?

However the free plan on Dynamic Mockups doesn’t let you bulk download all at once. You’d have to download images one by one (and watermarks on free version)

The Pro plan gives you “bulk download” ability but uses a credit system. On the $10/month Pro tier, you might have a certain number of credits (the site’s pricing interface implied ~100 credits at that price).

If 1 credit = 1 mockup (which is likely), then doing 500 images would require more credits (i.e., a higher plan or purchasing extra). So while the speed in pure time is extremely fast, you do have to consider throughput limits based on your plan

credits

What’s the verdict?

If you need 100–1000+ mockups in one shot, both can handle it, but Bulk Mockup will do it in one go (given a strong PC), whereas Dynamic Mockups might ask you to upgrade if you exceed your credit allotment.

On absolute speed, dynamic server-side rendering might slightly outrun Bulk Mockup on a typical home computer.

Yet, Bulk Mockup is plenty fast and sometimes the overhead is more about setting up the files than the generation itself.

One user on Product Hunt reviewing Dynamic Mockups mentioned “the mockups render fast” and that integrating it made their workflow smoother.

Another user on Trustpilot for Bulk Mockup said:

sinnead review of Bulk Mockup

If you foresee needing thousands upon thousands of images regularly, do consider the cost structure of dynamic vs the one-time investment in Bulk Mockup + Photoshop.

👉 Many high-volume sellers lean toward owning the process (Bulk Mockup) to avoid per-image fees long-term.

👉 Those who prize immediate speed may love dynamic’s cloud burst capability.

Integration and Automation in Your Workflow

Bulk MockUp

Bulk Mockup comes with features like auto-resizing, support for multiple design layers, and even video mockups. But it doesn’t connect directly to Etsy or other platforms.

So if you’re hoping to go from “design → mockup → Etsy listing” in one click, Bulk Mockup isn’t made for that. Here’s how most sellers actually use it:

  • They use Bulk Mockup to batch-create all their product images which saves tons of time.
  • Then, they upload those images manually to Etsy using Etsy’s bulk uploader or a third-party tool.

Dynamic Mockups

One thing that really sets Dynamic Mockups apart is its focus on automation and integrations.

“Bulk Mockup Generator API”—that’s what they want to be known as. If you can code, you can use their API to generate mockups automatically and even plug that system into your own website or tools.

For example:

  1. A Shopify store could auto-generate mockups every time a new design is added.

OR

  1. Use it with Airtable to auto-create packaging mockups.

Upload your design → Choose your Etsy or Shopify listings → Mockups created and automatically pushed.

Plus, Dynamic Mockups connects with no-code tools like Zapier and Make. That means you can do things like:

  • “When I drop a file in Dropbox, generate a mockup and send it to Google Drive.”
  • Pug it into WordPress, letting customers preview mockups live on your site.

Whose Customer Support Stands Out?

Bulk Mockup support is OUTSTANDING.

Many users specifically praise the Bulk Mockup team for being extremely helpful and responsive.

That level of 1-on-1 support can be crucial, especially if you’re not super technical. Bulk Mockup’s team even does live demos and will jump on Zoom to help customers.

Dynamic Mockups also has good support feedback. A user named Hayley noted “Their customer service is fantastic. You can chat and get answers super fast. Another highlighted how quickly they fix bugs or even add features upon request.

Output Quality and Types of Mockups

Speed is fantastic, but not if it comes at the cost of quality. But let’s explore any differences, especially when it comes to types of mockups.

Bulk Mockup

Bulk Mockup outputs exactly what your Photoshop templates define. This means the quality is as high as your source PSDs.

If you use a 4000×4000 pixel mockup template, you’ll get a 4000×4000 pixel image out. In my tests, the resulting JPEG/PNG files were identical in quality to those I’d manually export from Photoshop.

This is important for Etsy sellers who want zoomable images. Since Bulk Mockup supports Photoshop’s export settings, you can choose to export in PNG , JPEG, or even PSD.

One area Bulk Mockup is leagues apart is video and animated mockups

For example, if you have a PSD that’s actually a short video or an animated mockup (like a rotating mug or a model turning around), Bulk Mockup can insert your design and export the video for each design.

I tried this with a simple 5-second animated mockup template (a spinning t-shirt animation). Bulk Mockup generated the videos for 3 designs I provided – it took longer than images, but it worked great.

Bulk Mockup - redefine mockup creation process
Not many tools offer video mockup generation

Dynamic Mockup

Dynamic Mockup currently outputs static images only (PNG/JPEG). I didn’t see any video templates or mention of videos in their features.

Because they provide the templates or use your PSDs, the quality really depends on the template resolution, just like Bulk Mockup. There was no watermark on Pro plan outputs, and color accuracy was spot on

One thing to consider is color profiles and consistency

Photoshop lets you handle color profiles (sRGB, Adobe RGB, etc.)

Bulk Mockup being in Photoshop will use whatever color settings your Photoshop uses. Dynamic Mockups being cloud-based might have standardized color handling (likely sRGB which is standard for web images).

In practice I didn’t notice any color shifts.

So what’s my pick?

One notable difference: Bulk Mockup can do complex multi-layer PSDs

If your PSD has layers, Bulk Mockup won’t design it for you, but it will insert your artwork automatically. You just need to set the frame color or other details in the PSD beforehand

Dynamic Mockups have slightly less flexibility if a template has too many custom options. If you upload a multi-layer PSD to dynamic, you likely need to flatten some decisions in advance.

For many sellers, static images are the main need, and both tools nail that.

If you want to push the envelope: Bulk Mockup enabling video mockups is a big plus. Etsy listings that include a video tend to get a boost in sales.

Neither tool directly does 3D interactive models

If you need true 3D AR models, that’s outside the scope of these, although some 3D mockup generators exist

Personally, I like how Bulk Mockup works because I can organize and name files exactly how I want right away. With Dynamic Mockups, I had to download everything first and then clean up my account manually.

User Experiences and Results

It’s one thing for me to test these tools, but what are real users out in the wild saying?

Bulk Mockup User Testimonials

Bulk Mockup has garnered a lot of attention among POD sellers, especially those active in communities like print-on-demand forums and YouTube. The consistent theme in user feedback is massive time savings and great support:

  1. “Probably the best invention ever, worth 10x the price.”– This is short but telling. Bulk Mockup isn’t free, yet users feel it’s worth many times what they paid because of the value of time saved.
  2. This review highlights that not only is the tool saving hundreds of hours , but the support is top-notch. Sellers often need that reassurance that if they hit a snag, someone will help
radhika review of Bulk Mockup
  1. “It enables me to spend time doing the parts I enjoy creating, while taking care of the repetitive tasks that are burdensome.”– This is a huge point. As a creative entrepreneur, you want to focus on design and strategy, not grunt work.
  2. One Instagram reel by stationery designer Laney Ruddell (@designbylaney) showed her using Bulk Mockup. She said: “Just automatically creating almost A THOUSAND listing photos in one episode of Grey’s Anatomy. The Bulk MockUp extension is an absolute game changer if you’re a product designer or have an online shop!”
design by laney

That kind of real-world example is gold – she made ~1000 mockups in ~45 minutes of TV time. Before Bulk Mockup, that could have taken days of manual effort.

Dynamic Mockups User Testimonials

Dynamic Mockups is newer, so there’s less volume of feedback, but the early users have been quite vocal:

  • “Dynamic Mockups is incredible! It allows me to set up my listing and edit/create photos in bulk!! I save so much time with this tool. Their customer service is fantastic.”

This Trustpilot review from August 2024 basically hits all the notes: the user was thrilled to bulk edit listing photos and saved a ton of time, and got quick support. It shows dynamic delivered on its core promise for this Etsy seller.

  1. This is a review from late 2024 For a user doing a “huge image overhaul”, dynamic was a godsend and the team’s responsiveness sealed the deal.
  • On Reddit, whenever someone asks about bulk mockups or how to automate, a user often chimes in with “check out Dynamic Mockups, you can even upload your own Photoshop templates and automate the process.”
jack review of dynamic mockup
  • On Product Hunt, a user mentioned using dynamic’s API with Airtable to generate packaging renderings fully automated. That’s a more technical use case, but it shows how versatile dynamic can be beyond just Etsy scenarios.

Which Should You Go For?

If you weigh the sentiment, Bulk Mockup’s users often express “I can’t live without this now”

whereas

Dynamic Mockups’ early users express “This has huge potential and is already saving me lots of time.”

Bulk Mockup has a larger base of proven results. Over 2000 people use it, dozens have publicly reviewed it with glowing 5-star reviews, and you can find success stories of sellers who scaled their shops thanks to it.

  1. Let’s not forget one more perspective: customers trust Bulk Mockup enough to post 140 reviews at 4.9 average – that’s huge social proof.
  2. Meanwhile dynamic has just 2 reviews at 3.8 (both 5-star actually, but 2 data points). It doesn’t mean it is worse – it’s just newer.

High-intent Etsy and POD sellers want a tool that’s proven, reliable, and backed by real results. Bulk Mockup clearly has that pedigree.

How Do Bulk Mockup And Dynamic Mockups Compare In Pricing Structure?

Confused? Here’s How To Make Sense Of Pricing And Final Decision

Looking at this, the pricing models are quite different

Bulk Mockup is a straightforward subscription – pay monthly or yearly and use it as much as you want.

Dynamic Mockups has a freemium model, but to really unlock bulk usage you subscribe to Pro. Even the Pro plan ($10/mo) uses a credit system, meaning heavy users might outgrow the base plan and need to negotiate higher tiers.

which mockup tool is for you

So Why Bulk Mockup?

At $77/year, Bulk Mockup is extremely affordable for what it does. One sale of a product can often cover that cost. And many sellers reported ROI within the first week.

Also, Bulk Mockup offers a 7-day money-back guarantee. So if you try it and it somehow doesn’t meet your needs, you can get a refund.

Bulk Mockup doesn’t have a free trial per se (because it’s a downloadable plugin sold via Gumroad), but that refund window effectively acts as one.

Also, because it’s unlimited, if you have a seasonal business you could even subscribe just for a month or two during your design cycles if you wanted (though the yearly deal is so much better value, most go for that).

Why not Dynamic Mockups?

The free tier is a nice way to play with the tool. You could sign up and generate a few manual mockups at no cost to see the quality. But serious sellers will want Pro. At $10/month, it’s cheaper.

However, that’s potentially misleading because Bulk Mockup’s usage is unlimited while dynamic’s $10 plan is not. If indeed ~100 credits are included, that could be enough for a small seller who only makes 50-100 new images a month.

But if you have 200 designs and want to create 5 mockup images each – that’s 1000 images. Bulk Mockup: no problem, go for it. Dynamic Mockups: on the base Pro plan, 1000 images would blow past your credits (you’d likely need to buy a lot more credits or an enterprise plan).

This is the problem.

I also consider the Photoshop cost in Bulk Mockup’s case. If you don’t already have Photoshop, that’s around $20.99/month for the subscription to Adobe.

So, how many mockups do you need per month and do you already have Photoshop? Those two questions might tilt the value proposition.

For high-volume sellers with Photoshop:

👉 Bulk Mockup is likely far more cost-effective in the long run.

For low-volume or hobby sellers without Photoshop:

👉 Dynamic Mockups’ free or low-tier plan could be attractive because you don’t have to buy Photoshop or Bulk Mockup.

Where Bulk Mockup Wins Hands Down?

Here:- team usage and collaboration. Bulk Mockup’s license allows installation on up to 2 devices, which is cool if you have a desktop and a laptop, or two staff members.

Dynamic Mockups is a web app, so if multiple team members need to generate concurrently, you might need multiple accounts or a higher plan.

Also peace of mind and reliability

Bulk Mockup being a one-time (or annual) purchase means you’re not worried about hitting a limit right when you need it most. Some users may value that predictability.

As one Bulk Mockup user said, “All that for a very affordable price. This is now my home for all mockups.”
